It is a gorgeous gold-plated eight-leaf pattern on die-cast zinc. In March 1977, the "eight-leaf lotus flower" was chosen as the symbol of the Soka Gakkai. The eight leaves spread out in layers, based on a line from Nichiren Daishonin's calligraphy: "Eight is the opening of the colorful heart to the Myoho.
